A delightful combination of juicy cherries and fluffy chocolate yeast dough, perfect for an afternoon coffee or as a sweet highlight at your next dinner!

Ingredients

  • 500 g Schokoladen-Hefeteig
  • 200 g Kirschen, entsteint
  • 250 g Frischkäse
  • 100 g Puderzucker
  • 1 Teelöffel Vanilleextrakt
  • Butter (zum Bestreichen)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast dough: Make the chocolate yeast dough according to your favorite recipe and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.
  2. Prepare the cherries: While the dough is rising, pit the cherries and set aside.
  3. Roll out the dough: Roll the risen yeast dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 1 cm thick.
  4. Top with cherries: Evenly distribute the pitted cherries over the rolled-out dough.
  5. Roll the dough: Carefully roll the dough from the long side like a sandwich, being cautious not to let the filling spill out.
  6. Cut the roll: Cut the roll into pieces about 2-3 cm wide and place them in a greased baking dish.
  7. Let rise again: Let the cut rolls rise in a warm place until they are puffy.
  8. Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Make the cream cheese mixture: While the rolls are cooling, mix the cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Finish: Generously spread the cooled rolls with cream cheese and serve.

Notes

Ensure the yeast dough rises properly and the cherries are not overcrowded to avoid a soggy texture.
